The Seriously Improved Gouge
These videos show how Ken takes a commercial gouge and seriously modifies it to become ideal for plate carving. The blade sides are rounded to fit the hand, the bevel is made concave and very sharp, and a new longer handle is turned on the lathe facilitating finer control of the gouge. Finally the blade and handle are joined.
